The Ceramic Art of Julie Balogh
There
is a need to surround ourselves with the handmade object and the arts
in a world of mass production and practicality. We increasingly seek art
and the human touch because we know that it can not be fabricated and
that it is found less and less in our daily lives.
Pottery has been a part of human culture since ancient times. Even the
Greeks painted imagery on their pottery surfaces for storytelling and
for idolizing gods. Art and specifically, ceramic art, has been a source
of communication and expression for hundreds of years and for many cultures.
Clay is my medium for creative expression. I believe that art can be
therapeutic for both the creator and the viewer. I hold that very basic
desire to use my hands to create and my soul to express myself through
my art using clay.
