About
Julie's Art
I have moved to using a mid fire, white porcelain like clay, painting
the underglazes directly onto the greenware, bisque firing, glazing,
then oxidize firing them once more. Often there are several hours dedicated
to the underglaze painting on each piece. This technic has led me to
creating many a custom order for clients along with allowing me to incorporate
the painting with the sculptural additions. I would like to continue
experimenting with the painted surface but would also like to expand
working with joining the wheel thrown and sculptural forms together.
Before I had my son two and a half years ago, I taught both children’s
and adult’s classes out of my studio. I fore see starting those back
up in the next year and possibly opening a gallery and studio offering
classes outside of my existing home studio. I am currently collecting
names for both adult and children’s classes.
All custom pottery order prices are based upon the complexity and size
of the form along with the amount and complexity of the imagery to be
underglazed. Please contact me with inquiries.
